Comments:
Capacity Management is an emerging role that has historically been included as a set of tasks within the workset of the Operations Teams who have rarely had enough resource and tools available to carry out the work effectively. Few organisations outside major IT Departments have full time Capacity Management Teams and these are in the main working to understand the role and how to gather and manage the wide range of information they require to carry out the work effectively.
In small and medium organizations this work will continue to reside with the Team Leaders of the Operational Teams. Hopefully more competent tool sets will be available to assist them.
