Comments:
Although Release Management has been separated from Change Management for particular reasons they are in fact two aspects of the same service process. Release Management being the implementation back end of the Change Management process.
In larger organisations once the change is satisfactorily developed and tested the control of its release into the IT Operating Environment is passed to a Release Management Team. In small and medium sized organizations release is typically taken care of by the team managing and developing the change activity.
Release Schedule:
Release Management is managed via a tightly controlled Release Schedule that maps out 18-24 months in advance the monthly and weekly releases of operating system change, business applications change, hardware refresh and other projects/programmes that will require to be released into the production environment.
